What architects are not
They are usually not the general contractor, not your lender, and not a guarantee of construction cost. They are design and documentation professionals — sometimes also construction administrators.
When architecture is the right lead
New homes, additions, major renovations, commercial interiors with layout change, and anything where experience and appearance matter as much as systems.

Some firms are highly collaborative studios; others are efficient production offices. Interview for fit, not only portfolio style.
